Technology Assignment
10/15/13 7W
The main technology I use are phones, IPods, tablets, computers, and refrigerators. The main function of my phone is to call. The main functions for my IPod is to play games, watch videos, and listen to music. The main functions for my tablet is for reading and playing games The main functions for my computer is to do research, type up reports, and check emails. The main functions of refrigerators are keeping food perishable and preserved. All of these forms of technology help make my life easier.
Phones make life easier because you can call anytime. If there was an emergency you could pull out your phone to call help. Phones make it a lot easier to communicate with others. Before you had to go to a landline to call. Now you can call almost anywhere.
IPods and tablets make life easier because you always have some to use every time you’re bored. It is portable so you can bring almost anywhere. Also it isn’t that hard to hold. Lastly you can download an app to solve whatever trouble you have (Example: you may get a dictionary app to look up a word.) Tablets have one thing that IPods don’t have. Tablets make it a lot simpler to read. Sometimes when you are too lazy to turn off the light after you finished reading instead you can use a tablet which gives off light.
Computers make life easier because it helps you research a specific topic, most likely on Google. It also lets you check if you’ve received any emails. Last it helps to type any essays, reports, etc. Another function is you can purchase items off the internet. One more function is that you can chat with others via social networking and emails.
Refrigerators make life a lot easier because without them we would have a different diet. Without refrigerators we would probably eat beef jerky and dried fruits. We have more of a variety of food. We don’t have to eat the food we buy the day we purchase it. We also don’t have to deal with mold that often because of the refrigerator.
All of these forms of technology make my life very easy.

As an assignment for the gifts of the Holy Spirit, we had to select one of the gifts and create a bumper sticker. I chose to do the gift of understanding because I feel like it's important to put ourselves in others' shoes and try to see where they come from before judging them. I drew hands with a heart inside to represent giving a helping hand out of love like you would do when you are trying to understand others.

St. Thomas More Society of San Francisco Essay
How can I incorporate faith into my life, but still keep up with my current priorities such as schoolwork and extracurricular activities? Saint Thomas More was a very busy person during his lifetime whether it was business affairs or personal commitments, but he always set aside time for education and faith. Catholic schools give an even balance of both of those concepts. They are different from regular public schools because our beliefs create a positive environment that is willing to help others due to our beliefs. It helps us form ties with God and neighbors that are special and unlike no other.
My schooling has helped me grow closer to God and make healthy, loving relationships with others because Catholic schools set students up to benefit them overtime when building stronger bonds between themselves, God, and others. I’ve become closer to God through activities that my school provides me such as community service, prayers throughout the day, daily and school masses, and everyday lessons about Jesus. My education has taught me over the years that I can rely on God whenever I need to let my feelings out and reflect when I know no one will understand me and my opinions. I’ve learned that God will always be there for me through all times whether I’m happy, sad, or angry. He’ll listen to all the problems in my life, forgive my sins, and accept my words of thanks and gratitude. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve talked to God more often. Without my Catholic education, I probably wouldn’t have the relationships I have today. I’d probably be more distant from God or even have no relationship with him at all. I may not treat my family and friends with the respect I’ve been taught through religion. My faith has played a role in shaping my personality and outlook on life. My current school has helped me construct a bridge that brings God and me together and brings out my best qualities for others to see.
Like St. Thomas More, my grandma has helped me grow closer to God and others. My grandma has accompanied and helped me go through my Catholic education for almost a decade. She’s always had strong thoughts about the importance of learning and staying faithful to God. My grandma wants my siblings and me to succeed and she believes that having a good education will help greatly. She encourages us to try our best and is willing to help with schoolwork at just about anytime. I don’t know how she does it, but she always somehow includes or talks about God and faith in conversations I have with her. For example, when I talk about my sports, she says that I should pray to God to have a good game. I didn’t realize it until recently, but by talking to God about what’s going on in my life, has created a unique relationship with him. My grandma is very enthusiastic about attending Mass and participating in our parish. She is always ready to go to Mass every Sunday at 10:00AM and encourages the rest of my family to do so as well. Faith and education are two major thoughts and concepts that make up part of her life. Faith and education make her who she is today and it has done the same thing for me as well.
My beliefs and schooling come together through Catholic education. If I never did attend a Catholic school, I highly doubt that I would have the relationship with God I currently have and be the person I am today. Without Catholic education I wouldn’t have God to rely on and the high respect I have towards others. St. Thomas More emphasized the importance of education and faith, and always made time just for it. With Catholic schools, I can do both at the same time and form stronger relationships. Through the lessons taught and the books I’ve read, I am the person I am right now. Catholic schools benefit the lives of the students that attend it because loving relationships are rare, irreplaceable, and priceless
